What are Common Events
Common Events are events that you can make and store in the Common Events section and can be accessed on any map at any time. They are helpful with handling repetitive events because the event is already built and all you need to do is call it without having to build it from scratch each time. So, for example, when you have a dialogue and sound effect that characters in your game say and make very often, you can store them together as a common event, and then whenever a person needs to say it and then make the sound effect, you just call the event with a few clicks instead of creating the event from scratch all over again.
How do you make them?
First, open the Database (the gears icon on the toolbar). We’ll work more with the database in the upcoming section. Now, open the Common Events tab. Then, select one of the event slots on the list, and give your event a name like ‘My Common Event.’ Select a trigger and a switch, if applicable. (Recall what the “Parallel” and “Autorun” triggers are) And fill in some contents. Now, this common event is a block of ‘code’ so to speak that is stored in the database and can be accessed whenever you want the event to run. The common event can be called in place of a regular event, or can be added as an effect to Item that you player carries! (more on Items later). Feel free to play around and experiment with Common Events. They come especially handy for repetitive events.
