What are panels?
The panels are the tools found in the managing menu on the right hand side of the screen. The panels will help style your models to make them more realistic and accurate, allow for users to change the layout of the workspace, help use tools, and much more.
Like the tools, each panel has a different function to help create your 3D models.
Entity Information
The first panel on the managing menu is the Entity Information panel. This panel allows users to view information such as area, material, etc. of entities in the workspace such as an object, face, line, etc.
To view the entity information, click on the panel and then choose the Select tool. Click on the entity you would like and you can then view the information in the panel on the right hand side of the screen.
Instructor
The Instructor panel is the second panel in the managing menu. The Instructor panel provides in-depth instructions and guidelines for the tools in the main toolbar. If you need additional assistance operating the tools in SketchUp, the Instructor panel is very helpful in providing instructions to use the tools.
To view a diagram, tool operation instructions, or modifiers for each tool, click on the “Instructor” panel after selecting the tool.
Styles
The Styles panel allows users to customize the look of the workspace. To appeal to the use of 3D modeling, the Styles panel offers various templates for the look of the workspace.
Some of the different styles include color sets, photo modeling, sketching, line drawings, etc. Before you begin creating your models in the workplace, you should choose the type of style you think is best for your modeling needs.
If the style of the workspace does not matter to you, you can always keep the default style of the workspace.
